Last day at this assignment

Well today was my last day at this assignment...it is bittersweet. I had a lot of fun and made some new friends and learned some new procedures of filing and accounts payable. But now I am ready for a new adventure, we are going to California and Las Vegas!

Hurry hurry we need you now!!

So I was at the dentist with a mouth full of instruments thinking about how I was feeling so lucky cause after that I was going to get my hair colored. Then my phone rang and sure enough it was the Temp Agency, oh I said to the dentist can I answer that, it is for a job! So sure enough they needed a receptionist ASAP. OK can I get there at 1:00 pm, it was now 9:30 am? Then I can still make my appointment. I thought to myself. Well they need you as soon as you can get there. OK, let me see if I can change my appointment oh and I am wearing jeans what is the dress code? By now the dentist is done putting the filling in the root canal he performed last week so I am on my way. As I am struggling to find the number to change my hair appt. I drop my phone in the parking lot trying to call. I finally get the battery put back in it and gind out the dress code is business casual no jeans. OK head to my house 3 minutes away, change, grab my lunch and print off directions. On my way yay!!

Next Assignment I'm Going back to School!!

So I had a few days of vacation and now its time for another assignment. I got called to fill in as receptionist and some data entry at a local vocational school. So I had to be there early 7AM but I did it. The first morning I had to man the phones for awhile which can be challenging at times. While I was doing that I was sorting new students admission forms and when the regular admin. gal got there I was set to get on a computer and enter the information on to an Excel spreadsheet. The deadline was to be the day I started, which was a Thursday, well of course, there were parents calling up until and after the deadline but its nice that the school let the late kids still in. I can totally understand having been a single parent I was always running behind on something. Anyway there was alot of data entry it took 3 days and that is keeping at it constantly even working through lunch. But I got it done then I made labels and attached them to envelopes, matching them up with the information forms that I started with. Then as I was feeling pretty satisfied that I had almost finished the project there was more student info forms from the school's website. So I started over again and with the Administrative Assistant's help had to convert the info from website forms to an Excel spreadsheet. Glad for the experience but there has to be a better way. That was a few hours, I felt so dumb. But I muddles through and got it finished and printed more labels and attached to more envelopes. Done!!

Pipeline Construction Company

I am currently working for a pipeline construction company, this position is truly temporary and will end when I get done helping the office manager get caught up with filing, archiving and purging. I have been working on time sheets for the last week, making sure that each employee has a time sheet turned in for each week. Next week, I will be purging and packing documents for storage in an off-site facility, so I might get a little dirty. This job is only about 12 minutes from my house so not a bad travel time. Last Friday was Veteran's Day so I got the day (without pay) but that's OK that just enabled me to get some errands & cleaning done.
This job is truly a dream I can work as much or as little as I choose. They are all so nice I just hope the next position I get will be as easy to adjust to.
